Created on Broadway in 1966, the musical Cabaret was produced during a difficult economic period for New York’s theatres, whose revenues were steadily declining. But thanks to the persistence of producer Harold Prince, composer John Kander and lyricist Fred Ebb, Cabaret ran for over three years and 1,165 performances, becoming one of the most profitable musicals in history.
