Retrospective of Shows at the Théâtre du Lido

From 27 to 30 March, the Théâtre du Lido hosted a series of 4 exceptional concerts based on a little-known work: the suite from Mozart’s The Magic Flute, based on a scenario written by Goethe. Based on this discovery, Jean-Luc Choplin commissioned musician Damon Albarn to compose an original electro score, with a libretto adapted by Jeremy Sams.

Directed by Olivier Fredj, the performance combined music, video, lighting and costumes to bring to life emblematic characters such as the Queen of the Night, Pamina and Papageno. An ambitious contemporary creation supported by a large artistic and technical team.

The musical Hello, Dolly! took the Théâtre du Lido by storm from November 2024 to March 2025 with a grandiose production directed by Stephen Mear. Caroline O’Connor played Dolly Gallagher Levi, a clever and energetic matchmaker who will do anything to orchestrate love and find her own happiness. With its hilarious misunderstandings, spectacular choreography and dazzling costumes, the show was an explosion of joy and theatrical magic, making this version a not-to-be-missed event on the Paris stage.

To end its 2023-2024 season in style, the Théâtre du Lido was delighted to host Christopher Luscombe’s production of the Rocky Horror Show. This special tour celebrated the 50th anniversary of this cult musical. For two months, audiences enjoyed festive and unforgettable evenings with this iconic show at Théâtre du Lido.

For its grand reopening after 10 months of renovation, Jean-Luc Choplin, artistic director and president, stages the biggest success of Stephen Sondheim: “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to The Forum”A Funny Thing happened On The Way To The Forum. With rave reviews, the show  remain on stage for 2 months.

For the launch of the new Théâtre du Lido, the famous venue on the Champs-Elysées presented, under the artistic direction of Jean-Luc Choplin, a new production of Cabaret, directed and staged by Robert Carsen (known for Singin’ in the Rain, My Fair Lady at the Théâtre du Châtelet, as well as countless opera and theater productions at the Opéra Bastille, Palais Garnier, Comédie-Française, and major venues worldwide).

It was the first time that this cult musical was performed in Paris in its original English version with subtitles.

This summer, the Théâtre du Lido enchanted young and old alike with a unique sensory experience. To the bewitching rhythm of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, breathtaking images generated by artificial intelligence transported the audience on a visual and aural journey. To complete the immersion, spectacular effects such as smoke, wind and snow swept through the iconic hall, adding a magical touch to every moment. Adults will rediscover Vivaldi in a whole new light, while youngsters will marvel at the enchantment of the animations and sensations.
